WONDER-WORKING

Applied either to persons or objects, e.g., a shrine or relic, it means the ability to perform miracles. Certain saints, already in their lifetime, e.g., St. Gregory Thaumaturgus (213-70), and others since their death, e.g., St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231) were outstanding wonder-workers. So, too, such shrines as Our Lady of Lourdes and relics of many saints are outstanding for the authenticated miracles worked through their intercession.
