QUESNELLIANISM

A theory of grace taught by Pasquier Quesnel (1634-1719) which popularized the views of Michael Baius (1513-1638). Among his doctrines condemned by Pope Clement XI in 1713 were the claims that no grace is given outside the Church, that grace is irresistible, that without grace human beings are incapable of any good, and that all acts of a sinner, even prayer and attendance at Mass, are sinful.
