PROCURATOR

One who manages the affairs of another by virtue of the latter's authority. The person may be employed in juridical matters or attending councils, and is often the one in charge of the domestic temporal affairs of a monastery. Religious orders have procurators as their representative permanently residing on Rome. The actions of a procurator are regarded as done by the principal when the procurator acts legally within the limits of a mandate. (Etym. Latin procurator, manager, overseer.)
