ORDO SYNODI

Statement of the Council for the Public Affairs of the Church establishing the new norms for the synod of bishops, revising the former directives of December 8, 1966. Its leading provisions declare seven prerogatives of the Pope, which he alone enjoys with respect to the synod of bishops; namely, convoke, approve members, set up agenda, decide who discusses what, determine the sequence of matters for discussion, preside at the synod either personally or through a delegate, and decide on the votes of the synod (June 24, 1969).
