The father of Joseph, whose wife was Mary. Had Joseph been the real father of Jesus, instead of a guardian, Heli would have been Jesus' grandfather. Luke expresses it thus: "Jesus . . . the son, as it was thought, of Joseph son of Heli" (Luke 3:23).
