GREEN SCAPULAR

A popular scapular of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is made of green felt cloth, and on the face side is a picture of the Blessed Virgin, with rays emanating from her heart. On the reverse side is an image of the Heart of Mary alone, pierced by a sword, and surrounded with the inscription, "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death." The scapular is reputed to have special efficacy in bringing people back to the Church and to the sacrament of penance even after many years of estrangement from their faith.
