EDICT OF NANTES

The decree that ended the French wars of religion, signed by Henry IV (1533-1610) at Nantes on April 13, 1598. The Huguenots were allowed to practice their religion, with certain restrictions. Louis XIV (1638-1715) revoked the edict in 1685.
