Annual publication of the Holy See as an official directory of the Roman Catholic Church. It contains all the essential information about the Pope, Roman congregations, residential and titular sees, religious and secular institutes of men and women, rites in the Catholic Church, prelates, curial officials, and a historical summary of the principal offices and activities of the Church's central administration. Originally published unofficially as the Annuaire Pontifical Catholique, begun in 1898, it is now under the direction of the papal secretary of state.
