Wondering where I've been?

You may have noticed that during the last 10 days before Easter, I posted virtually no editorial commentary on this site. A few friends wrote to ask whether I was ill, or on vacation. Far from it. I was working, hammer and tongs, on a special project:
A Call to Serve: Pope Francis and the Catholic Future, will be available from Crossroad Publishing before the end of this month. It will be a beautiful book, with hundreds of four-color photos, and plenty of background on Pope Francis and how he came to the papacy. The book includes a look back, at the historic resignation of Benedict XVI, and a look forward, at the challenges the Church will face under the leadership of the first Pope from the New World. I'm excited about it!
The book isn't quite ready yet; it's just going to press this week. (If you click on the link, you may see an early draft of the cover, not the final version.) But when it is available, there will be a special offer for supporters of this Catholic Culture site. Stay tuned for more information!

Good news. I am hoping to find some consoling thoughts that will make me at ease while seeing our Holy Father applying his personal preferences over the Canon Law precincts. Being raised in a traditional Catholic family I loved teaching (and action) of John Paul II and Benedict XVI, and felt comforted/assured by it; I don't find it in our Pope Francis - am I a minority? lost in the progressed world that want OUR CHURCH to accept a concept of charity as a social give-away program? what's wrong?

Great. I think a lot of us are eagerly waiting for analysis from CC of Holy Week events, especially the pope's decision to wash the feet of women. We know it is not earth-shaking, but still it has many of us perplexed, some worried. These are kind of times we open CC each day hoping for some insights.
