Pope Benedict the preacher, at his very best

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Jun 19, 2012

Sandro Magister of L’Espresso calls attention to a homily on Baptism delivered by Pope Benedict XVI on June 11, describing it as “one of the highest moments of that masterpiece which his homilies on Baptism are.” A friend had sent me a copy of the same homily, with a one-word commentary: “Wow!”

“Wow” is right. Don’t miss it.

The Vatican web site hasn’t posted the homily yet, but you can find the full text just below Magister’s short commentary. Scroll down to see the title of this magnificent reflection: Immerse in the Father, in the Son, in the Holy Spirit.

What a beautiful sermon, and what a beautiful image of families bringing their children into the name of the Trinity in the most profound and fundamental act of evangelization!
