He dumped two wives, two children, and the Catholic Faith, announced to the world he was gay, bailed from the governorship of New Jersey, and moved in with his lover-boy. So what's next for Jim McGreevey? Ministry as an Episcopal priest.

The former New Jersey love gov has gone from Turnpike rest stops to the church rostrum as part of his training to become an Episcopal priest, working each weekend at All Saints Church in Hoboken. McGreevey -- who resigned from office in disgrace in 2004 -- isn't far enough along in his seminary studies to actually give sermons, but he assists the Rev. Geoffrey Curtiss at three Masses on Sunday and participates in parish programs, donation drives and activities.

Lovely. And we're supposed to be indignant that Pope Benedict didn't solicit the opinion of the Archbishop of Canterbury before he established the Personal Ordinariate. Blood test for blood test the Catholic clergy probably scores even worse than the Anglicans, but at least our bishops (if only because the Vatican has a pistol pressed to their forehead) must hold their men answerable to a recognizably Christian norm.

As for McGreevey, methinks he has a great career ahead as an ecumenist.
