end of an era

By Diogenes ( articles ) | Feb 12, 2010

Now it's official.

But remember, you heard it here first.

The Kennedy dynasty has ended.

Congressman Patrick ("Patches") Kennedy said that he will not seek re-election because "my life is taking a new direction." Liberal commentators were shocked by his announcement, and searched for an explanation. But there's no mystery here. It seems that the voters of Rhode Island had already taken a new direction of their own.

A WPRI-12 poll out just last month showed Kennedy with a staggering 56 percent unfavorable rating in his own district, swelling to 62 percent statewide. Moreover, just 35 percent in his district would vote for him again.
