Cardinal Dolan's genes

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Feb 22, 2012

So now we know where Cardinal Dolan gets his sense of humor. When the newly elevated cardinal introduced his mother to Pope Benedict XVI, the Holy Father gallantly commented that Mrs. Dolan looked too youthful to have a son who is a cardinal. The New York Post takes the story from there:

The cardinal said his mom--showing that a quick wit is a family trait--shot back, “Holy Father, was that an infallible statement?”

Another reason the MSM won't rock the boat is that Archbishop Gregory is very gay-friendly. Atlanta being in the top ten of gay-friendly diocese. I think it was an "in-your-face" appointment America.

Another mean-spirited analysis, Phil. Because *you* would have handled everything *perfectly* if you were in charge of a diocese. And what is the point of hunting down "any evidence of corruption and/or dishonesty in the previous regimes" except to drag people who are already out of ministry or dead through the mud? What does that accomplish except to give you more dirt to throw around in the future? Yet again, you ascribe the worst motives to how these cases were handled in the distant past.

The same media folks who estimate abp. Gregory's appointment to DC as "a very safe choice," had supported the presidency of Hillary Clinton as "a very safe choice."

They know he's not going to say anything that opposes the status flow of the mainstream culture, so yes, he's very safe. But in terms of eternal life, maybe not so safe.
