Admissions error

Dissident theologian Hans Küng recently told an Australian broadcast audience that as a young man, Karol Wojtyla lacked the theological background necessary for entrance into the Gregorian university.
In making this observation, Küng obviously intends a put-down of Wojtyla. But only a bloody-minded ideologue could fail to notice that the ridicule flows in the opposite direction. In failing to admit the future Pope John Paul II, the Gregorian admissions committee botched the case.
Now if we could hear from the admissions office of the schools where Hans Küng got his training...
