As a follow-up to Phil's post, here's Hans:

I think it's a fact that Karol Wojtyla does not know enough modern exegesis, history of dogmas, modern theology. He has a very traditional neo-scholastic training, but I think that these are his limits, and I do not see why we cannot speak openly about that. But in my first volume I had of course to limit myself just to the period until '68. I shall be more explicit on all that in the second volume.

A priest with a multi-volume autobiography? Father Küng's intellectual -- and ministerial -- priorities are suddenly much clearer to me.
