Catholic Recipe: Punch

    INGREDIENTS

  • 2 quarts water
  • rind of 4 lemons
  • rind of 4 oranges
  • 15 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cups sugar
  • juice of 8 oranges
  • juice of 8 lemons
  • 2 quarts soda
  • 3 quarts claret wine
  • 1 bottle port wine
  • 1 bottle rum

DIRECTIONS

Put water, lemon and orange rind, spices and sugar in deep saucepot. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. Add remaining ingredients; simmer 30 minutes; strain. Pour into heat-proof punch bowl. Yield, 20 servings
