Chicago pastor rips Cardinal George for conferring new titles on priests

September 09, 2010

Father Thomas McQuaid of St. Leonard parish in Berwyn said that it is “silly” and “shameful” to grant new titles to Catholic clergymen at a time when there are many other more urgent problems facing the Church.

McQuaid is just upset that his cassock didn't change color too. Probably won't, either, not as long as Cardinal George is around.

Just how much labor and sweat is involved in bestowing this title?

Maybe Father McQuaid should heed his own advice and deal with some of the many problems facing his parish and the City of Berwyn instead of carping about the rather innocuous use again of the title, monsignor.
