CWN Editor's Note: Representatives of various religions, joined by prelates and scholars, have gathered in Assisi for a three-day international meeting for peace, four decades after Pope St. John Paul II’s 1986 day of prayer for peace there.
The meeting concludes today with a time of prayer. Christians are scheduled to pray in the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi; non-Christians will pray at various locations outside the basilica.
Pope Leo XIV was scheduled to travel to Assisi today, but cancelled his visit because of his recent lung surgery.
