Keep your gaze fixed on Christ, Pope tells members of Jesus Youth association

October 26, 2026

Pope Leo XIV encouraged members of the Jesus Youth association to keep their gaze fixed on Christ and to witness to Him in Indian society.

Founded in the Indian state of Kerala in 1985, Jesus Youth was recognized as a national association of the faithful in 2008 and an international association of the faithful in 2016.

“Do not lose your apostolic zeal, but rather foster it and carry it to new countries,” Pope Leo said during the audience (video), which took place on October 24 in Paul VI Audience Hall. “All of this is possible only by keeping your gaze on Jesus Christ.”

“Although many of you live in areas where Christians are a minority, do not be afraid to give witness to your friendship with Jesus,” the Pope continued. “The hearts of young people are longing to discover Christ’s love.”

“Dear brothers and sisters, I urge you to continue on your journey by faithfully living the life of prayer and service to the poor that characterizes Jesus Youth,” Pope Leo added. “Seek to preserve your unity, especially amid the great diversity of social backgrounds, cultures and languages that are hallmarks of your movement.”
