Pope recalls World Mission Sunday

October 19, 2026

At the conclusion of his Sunday Angelus address, Pope Leo XIV recalled World Mission Sunday.

“Today we celebrate the 100th World Mission Day,” Pope Leo said to pilgrims gathered in St. Peter’s Square. “Let us think of how much missionary history has unfolded over these one hundred years! “

The Pope added, “Let us pray that the Church may always remain faithful to the mandate of the Risen Lord: ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation’“ (Mk 16:15).
