Pope recalls importance of the Rosary
October 08, 2026
At the conclusion of his October 7 general audience, Pope Leo XIV highlighted the importance of the Rosary.
“Today’s liturgical memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary gives me the opportunity to recall the importance of the Holy Rosary, a Marian prayer so dear to the Church’s tradition,” Pope Leo said to pilgrims gathered in St. Peter’s Square. “I invite you to recite it to experience the comfort of our heavenly Mother, a safe refuge in the midst of life’s difficulties.”
The Pope also recalled Our Lady of Aparecida and St. Faustina Kowalska.
To Portuguese-speaking pilgrims, Pope Leo said, “Dear brothers and sisters, next Monday, 12 October, we will celebrate Our Lady of Aparecida, Patroness of Brazil. To her maternal intercession I entrust you and your families. May Our Lady always watch over you!”
Addressing Polish-speaking pilgrims, he added, “I entrust you to the intercession of Mary, Mother of Fair Love, and of St. Faustina Kowalska, ‘Apostle of Divine Mercy,’ whom we have recently commemorated, so that on your daily journey you may always trust in God, the Lord of history.”
The Vatican omitted all of these words of the Pontiff from its English translation of his remarks.
