Vatican newspaper continues series on Kenya’s street children
October 02, 2026
L’Osservatore Romano devoted the most prominent article in its October 1 edition to the “stories of minors who live at Tone la Maji, the Koinonia community center for street children south of Nairobi,” in the words of part of its headline.
The community, which provides housing, education, and other services, was founded by Father Renato “Kizito” Sesana, a Comboni missionary.
It was the fourth article (1, 2, 3, 4) in journalist Guglielmo Gallone’s series “Kenya: viaggio tra gli ultimi” (Kenya: journey among the last). The latest article was accompanied by an interview with Bishop John Oballa Owaa of Ngong, in whose diocese Tone la Maji is located.
