Pope renews appeal for Rosary for peace in October
October 01, 2026
Pope Leo XIV renewed his appeal to pray the Rosary for peace in October, the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary.
“May the month of October, which begins tomorrow, be an opportunity to recite the Holy Rosary, dedicating it in a special way to the end of wars and the achievement of peace,” Pope Leo said at the conclusion of his September 30 general audience, in words not included in the Vatican’s English translation of his remarks.
Earlier this week, during his Sunday Angelus address, Pope Leo invited “all the faithful and all Christian communities to pray the holy Rosary throughout the coming month of October, with the particular intention that wars may cease and that peace may be established among peoples in conflict.” This evening, as part of an initiative of Aid to the Church in Need, Pope Leo and hundreds of children will pray the Rosary for peace at the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens.
