Indian archdiocese releases documentary on Mother Teresa

The Archdiocese of Calcutta this week hosted the premiere of a film, Mother Teresa—Prophet of Compassion. The documentary was produced by longtime CWN contributor, Anto Akkara.

Introducing the documentary, Archbishop Elias Frank praised Akkara’s effort “to make Mother known to the world.” Akkara disclosed that after a lengthy interview with Mother Teresa in 1995 he had continued to visit the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, and gained the congregation’s approval for work on his 66-minute film.

The film was released in India as part of the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of Mother Teresa’s canonization.
