CWN Editor's Note: The Diocese of Buffalo, New York, is seeking to block sex-abuse lawsuits against diocesan parishes and schools, while suggesting a $100 million fund to pay abuse claims.

The diocese is asking for an injunction to halt new suits against parishes, while negotiations with victims continue as part of bankruptcy proceedings. A lawyer for victims, Steve Boyd, objected to the proposed injunction, saying: “The diocese wants its affiliated entities to have protection of bankruptcy without the legal responsibilities of bankruptcy.”
