CWN Editor's Note: The head of a ministry for homosexual persons in the Lexington, Kentucky diocese has received a handwritten note of support from Pope Francis. Stan Zerkowski, the executive director of “Fortunate Families,” received the note in response to an email message he had sent to the Pontiff, urging more Church support for homosexuals. He explained that “young people who can be very caught up with the thought that ‘God doesn’t love me. The Church doesn’t love me, but this is the way I am.’”

In his note, the Pope thanked Zerkowski for his thoughts and for his ministry.
