Chaldean bishops address post-election tensions in Iraq

CWN Editor's Note: The bishops of the Chaldean Catholic Church have issued a call for the people of Iraq to “give priority to the public interest rather than partisan agendas,” as accusations of vote fraud and human-rights abuses escalated following the country’s parliamentary elections earlier this month. The Shi’ite leader Moqtada al-Sadr emerged as the victor in the vote, but lacked a parliamentary majority. The Chaldean hiearchy urged all political leaders to work together for the formation of a “government of national competence.”
