Parliament in Maldives considers ban on non-Islamic houses of worship

In the Maldives, the state places severe restrictions on all religions other than the government’s favored strain of Islam. The country’s lawmakers, rather than moving toward religious freedom, are now weighing an outright ban on the construction of other houses of worship.
