1 million Spanish pro-lifers join in massive Madrid rally

A crowd estimated by local officials at 1.5 million gathered in Madrid on Saturday, October 17, in a display of public opposition to the plan by Prime Minister José Luis Zapatero to liberal Spain's abortion law. The proposed changes would allow abortion on demand through the first 14 weeks of pregnancy, and eliminate the requirement for parental consent before a teenage girl procures an abortion.
