Chinese 'underground' bishop dies

Bishop James Lin Xili of Wenzhou, who died on October 4 at the age of 90, was under constant police surveillance up to the time of his death, despite being bed-ridden with disease. He had spent 16 years in Chinese prison camps. The Beijing regime refused to recognize him as a bishop, and closed down a Catholic web site that identified him as a bishop in an obituary notice.
