Property sales in Chicago archdiocese will pay down lawsuit damages

CWN Editor's Note: The Archdiocese of Chicago expects to receive $100 million for plot of real estate now used as a parking lot for the cathedral. The sale is part of a massive consolidation that Cardinal Blase Cupich has said is designed to promote “spiritual revitalization.” However at least half of the proceeds from property sales will go to pay off costs related to sex-abuse settlements.
