Former nuncio: heard rumors about McCarrick in 1994

CWN Editor's Note: A former papal nuncio to the US discloses that he first heard reports of homosexual activity by former cardinal McCarrick as early as 1994. Cardinal Agostino Cacciavillan says that he asked the late Cardinal John O’Connor of New York to investigate, and was assured that there was no risk of public scandal during the 1995 visit by Pope John Paul II to Newark, where McCarrick was then archbishop.
