Decision ‘already made’ to grant autonomy to Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Constantinople says

CWN Editor's Note: While deciding not to issue a final decision on autonomy for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople has issued a statement that it plans to proceed with “the decision already made.” The statement from the Ecumenical Patriarchate also lifted the excommunication of Patriarch Filaret, who had broken with the Russian Orthodox Church, allowing him to play a role in the development of the self-governing Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
