From his comments, it appeared that Gian Maria Vian shares the same naïve view as Francis about the fundamental enlightenment of modern man which means he is ignoring massive evidence to the contrary. Not only a denial of historical reality but a denial of the metaphysical and epistemological impossibility for sinful man to not have the sinful corruptions of his soul corrupt his understanding of reality and thus create the occasions for future sins. The Church exists to save us from our sins.
