Iraqi archbishop reports anti-government violence flaring in Basra

CWN Editor's Note: Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Habib al Naufali of Basra, Iraq, reports that the city has erupted in violence, and many of the city’s minority Christians were unable to reach churches on Sunday because streets were closed by rioting or police action. The city, dominated by Shiite Muslims, has seen weeks of unrest, as anti-government protests have escalated.
