CWN Editor's Note: The Bishops’ Conference of the Catholic Church in China (BCCCC) and the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association (CCPA)—neither of which is recognized by the Vatican—has asked all dioceses to draft a “Five-Year Plan on Promoting the Chinese Catholic Church’s Adherence to Sinicization.” President Xi Jinping has called upon religions to be “Chinese in orientation” and “adapt themselves to socialist society.”
