Vatican official questions priests’ role in preparing couples of marriage

    As reported in the CWN piece, the Cardinal's statement is badly confused. For a start, many priests, in light of their pastoral work, have a deep experience of the needs of married people. Were we to extend the Cardinal's argument, it would seem that priests ought not to hear the confessions of married couples.
