Misericordia et Misera underlines key theme of Pope Francis, says Cardinal Nichols

England’s leading Catholic prelate says that Misericordia et Misera, the apostolic letter released by Pope Francis at the close of the Year of Mercy, “reinforces the fundamental shape and purpose of the reform that [the Pontiff] is persistently putting forward for all of us.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster said that the papal document will help the faithful to attain a deeper understanding of God’s mercy. The key message of the apostolic letter, he said, is that although the Jubilee Year has ended, “the door of mercy remains wide open.”
