Massive crowds in Paris for pro-marriage demonstration

October 19, 2016

A “Manif pour tous“ demonstration in Paris on Sunday by defenders of traditional marriage drew a stunning crowd estimated at 200,000, catching even the organizers by surprise.

The Manif pour tous movement had mobilized hundreds of thousands to demonstrate against the acceptance of same-sex marriage. But after the French government went forward with its plan to recognize homosexual unions, expectations were lower for the October 16 march. The focus of this demonstration was on opposition to artificial procreation, although marchers continued to register their protest against the redefinition of marriage.
