Legates named for closing of holy doors in Roman basilicas

Pope Francis has named the archpriests of the Papal Basilicas of St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, and St. Paul Outside-the-Walls as his legates to preside at the rite of closing of the holy doors for the jubilee year of mercy at the three basilicas on November 13.

The three archpriests are respectively Cardinal Agostino Vallini, Cardinal Santos Abril y Castelló, and Cardinal James Michael Harvey.

Pope Francis will officially conclude the jubilee year in St. Peter’s Basilica on November 20, the Solemnity of Christ the King.
