Venezuelan bishops deplore prison conditions

The justice and peace commission of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference has issued a statement lamenting worsening prison conditions under the regime of President Nicolás Maduro.

Citing “overcrowding, cruel treatment, and corruption,” the prelates lamented prison overcrowding, cruelty to political prisoners, and degrading treatment of relatives during visits.
