Prelate: 1/3 of priests have left Damascus

A Syrian archbishop has told Aid to the Church in Need that “one in three priests has chosen to leave Damascus towards more peaceful countries.”

Discussing the grave problems facing the Church in Syria, Maronite Archbishop Samir Nassar of Damascus added, “What will our Church become without priests? … Will we become the guardians of rocks, pebbles and stones?”

    Too bad the priests are abandoning their flocks. Is this what Jesus would do? Is this what Jesus wants His priests to do? I don't think so. Unless they are leaving WITH their flocks, accompanying them, and not running from them.
