Father Lombardi named chairman of Ratzinger Foundation

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has named Father Federico Lombardi the chairman of the board of the Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation.

The foundation, founded by Pope Benedict in 2010, promotes the theology of the Pope Emeritus and funds scholarships from the royalties from his works.

Father Lombardi, who recently concluded ten years as director of the Holy See Press Office, succeeds Msgr. Giuseppe Scotti, whose term as chairman has concluded.
