Dublin's archbishop removes students from troubled Irish national seminary

August 01, 2016

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin has removed his seminarians from the Irish national seminary at Maynooth.

The move comes as the Maynooth seminary continues to be the focus of complaints about homosexual activities. Seminary officials have insisted that they have taken strong action when informed of such activities.

The young men who are now studying for the priesthood for the Dublin archdiocese will instead be sent to Rome, to train at the Irish College. There are currently just three seminarians for the Dublin archdiocese.
