June 22, 2016
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America recently granted over $4.1 million to 265 projects to assist the work of the Church in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Over $1.36 million was granted to projects in Haiti, and almost $390,000 will be used to help rebuild churches damaged by an earthquake in Ecuador.
The subcommittee awards grants twice a year from an annual collection that raises nearly $7 million. Since 2000, the USCCB has distributed over $96.8 million in grants to the Church in Latin America.
