Oklahoma prelate: gender ideology is battle between light and darkness

June 21, 2016

Reflecting on an airport sign for an “all gender” restroom, an Oklahoma prelate recently described gender ideology as “the next tsunami that threatens to sweep away centuries of accepted human wisdom about the complementarity and real differences between men and women.”

“As with every ideology this one asserts itself as beyond dispute and absolute,” wrote Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City. “It envisions a brave new world in which the creature asserts himself as the creator of his own reality. This is demonic.”

“I am not an alarmist, but it seems clear to me that battle lines are being drawn very clear,” he added. “And, these lines are about more than government overreach. This is a spiritual battle between Light and darkness. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!”

I stand with Archbishop Coakley and I hope we hear of others speaking out as well.

The bishops need to be as forceful of the prophets of old. Today's Philistines will overpower us if we do not reform.

Up until now, this is the first I've heard from any bishop speaking out on this issue. Use the bathroom you "identify" with, not your gender? Really? Well then, whose going to stop a sex offender from "identifying" with the 13-year-old girl in the next stall? Whose going to stop easy target Granny from getting mugged for her wallet? Where is common sense? Where is the "right to privacy" for the most vulnerable in our society?

Thank you Archbishop Coakley for speaking the truth! This would be a great project right now for the USCCB - to say something Catholic about the whole "gender" ideology. The time is running out quickly.
