Renovations giving new life to Nativity basilica in Bethlehem

June 16, 2016

A $15-million renovation campaign is bringing new life to the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem: the church built on the site of Jesus' birth.

The long-overdue repairs in the basilica are exposing frescoes, mosaics, and statues that have been obscured by centuries of grime, as well as shoring up the structure of the building.

The renovation campaign is scheduled for completion in time for Easter next year.
