USCCB committee chair welcomes discussion of House GOP anti-poverty initiative

June 14, 2016

Archbishop Thomas Wenski, chairman of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has issued a statement welcoming discussion of “A Better Way,” the House GOP’s anti-poverty initiative.

“This plan concerning poverty ought to be a catalyst for strong bipartisan dialogue about our brothers and sisters in need and our obligations to give them priority in our policymaking,” said the Miami prelate. “My hope is that members of all parties will seize this moment to begin to work more collaboratively on these issues.”
