Over 5 million Jubilee pilgrims to Rome thus far

The number of pilgrims visiting Rome during the Jubilee Year of Mercy has passed 5 million, the Vatican has announced.
After lagging below initial expectations-- probably because of fear of terrorist violence in Europe-- the number of visitors to Rome has increased in recent weeks. Late last week, the number of official registrations in the Jubilee logs passed 5 million.
