Cardinal Ravasi tweets tribute to Prince

April 22, 2016

The president of the Pontifical Council for Culture reacted to the death of the rock musician Price by quoting the lyrics of a famous Prince song on Twitter.

Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi quoted a few lines from “Sometimes It Snows in April,” closing with a line: “All good things they say, never last.” He had sent out a similar Twitter tribute after the death of David Bowie in January.

Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson) died at his home in Minneapolis on April 21 at the age of 57. The cause of his death has not been determined. Cardinal Ravasi is known for sprinkling his speeches and written statements with quotes from a broad variety of sources, ranging from ancient poets and philosophers to popular novelists and pop singers.

Prince Nelson had a strange notion of the relationship between sex and religion. His "brand" of Christianity, as chronicled by the NY Times, was equally strange. RIP.
